This book documents the construction of the Near-Infrared Spectrograph and Photometer NISP, one of the two wide-field instruments of the ESA’s space telescope Euclid designed to analyse the accelerating expansion of the universe by mapping a billion galaxies (launch scheduled for 2022). To build NISP, scientists and engineers are working daily in dust-free, artificial spaces, under a controlled atmosphere. commissioned by the National Centre for Space Studies (CNES) and the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS).
